MADRID, Nov.20 (Xinhua) -- Barcelona's Spain international midfielder Xavi Hernandez said on Thursday that his side could win an incredible League, Cup and European treble this season.

Barcelona have a three point lead at the top of the Primera Liga, they are in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey and have also reached the last 16 of the Champions League. They have done that playing attacking football that has seen them score 36 goals in just 11 league games, while conceding just 8.

That has given Xavi grounds for optimism that his team can go all the way in three competitions.

"I have to think that we can do it. I am optimistic and I like to be positive about things," he told sports paper El Mundo Deportivo.

However, the midfielder, who was voted the best player in last June's European Championships, was taking nothing for granted.

"We have to be cautious and realize that it is difficult in every competition and that we will have to work hard if we are to achieve our aims."

"We want to win three titles, we want to be ambitious and we think that we have the players and the talent to do so. But we have to be realistic and remember that the last team to do it was Manchester United in 1999."

"Why can't we do it as well?" said Xavi.

The midfielder is currently in talks to renew his contract with Barcelona. His current deal expires in 2010 and there has been talk of interest from Manchester United, however, Xavi is confident he will be staying at the Camp Nou.

"Things are going very well. They want me to stay here and I want to stay. I am grateful for the relationship I have with the club and also with the words from the President (Joan Laporta) saying they will make an effort to keep me."

"My dream is to retire her. I have always been a Barcelona fan and obviously my hope is to finish my career in the club I have always loved," said Xavi.
