BEIJING, Nov. 20 -- During his visit to Cuba, Chinese
President Hu Jintao met Fidel Castro, now first secretary of the Central
Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba. The two leaders discussed
international issues and the longstanding friendship between their two
countries.
Hu Jintao said he was delighted to see Castro again, and was pleased to see he has recovered and is energetic.

President Hu said a deep friendship has developed
between the two countries by generations of leaders including Castro.
President Hu said Sino-Cuban all-round cooperation is
expanding continuously, and bilateral ties have entered a new era. He added that
China will remain committed to promoting friendly cooperation.
Castro extended a warm welcome to Hu Jintao on his
second state visit to Cuba. He congratulated China on its recent achievements.
Castro said while the international financial crisis
is spreading, the Chinese economy is still developing soundly. He said the
Communist Party of Cuba, the government and the people are willing to further
promote friendship with China.
The leaders also exchanged views on the two
countries' economic development and major international and regional issues,
including the international financial crisis and the world economy.
President Hu Jintao also met with Cuban leader Raul
Castro.Hu Jintao called on both nations to maintain high-level exchanges and
enhance political ties, and deepen cooperation in economy and trade. He also
called for increased coordination to protect developing nations and push for
lasting global peace and prosperity.
