WARSAW, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Poland supports Turkey's joining the European Union, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said after meeting his visiting Turkish counterpart Ali Babacan here on Tuesday.

    Sikorski told a press conference that the talks with the Turkish guest focused on the situation in Afghanistan, the Caucasus, Cyprus, terrorism and the development of economic cooperation, according to Polish news agency PAP.

    Babacan assured that his country welcomes the fact that Poland "supports our EU aspirations." "Poland is a strong ally of Turkey within NATO," he added.
