WASHINGTON, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- All star
forward Kevin Garnett has been handed a one-game suspension without pay for
striking Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut in the face on Saturday, announced
the NBA on Monday.
The 2.11 meters Boston Celtics player had been struck
in mouth by Bogut's arm after the Australian was fouled near the basket in the
fourth quarter. Garnett then slapped Bogut in return.
Both players were assessed technical fouls and Bogut
was ejected because it was his second of the contest.
The league also ruled that Bogut's foul on Garnett
had been upgraded to a flagrant foul penalty one.
Boston won the game in Milwaukee 102-97 in overtime.
Garnett, averaging 16.3 points and 9.8 rebounds a
game this season, will serve his suspension on Tuesday when the Celtics host the
New York Knicks.
