DAMASCUS, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Monday stressed the importance to continue dialogue among Arab countries in efforts to solve regional problems.
Assad made the remarks in a speech at an Arab Information and Communication Ministers Council meeting in Damascus, the official SANA news agency reported.
The president "confirmed that continued dialogue among the Arab countries at all levels is necessary to meet global conditions and create new mechanisms and appropriate solutions to the problems facing our Arab societies," SANA said.
He also underlined the necessity to upgrade the Arab media discourse to a level it can face political, intellectual and moral challenges in the Arab society and be a best means to re-enhance the Arab relations.
The Arab information and communications ministers, as well as Arab League chief Amr Moussa, held a meeting here Monday with an aim to keep pace with the global information revolution and the rapid information, technical and technological development.
They would also discuss continued cooperation and coordination between these ministries and putting a common strategy to cope with information and technological challenges facing all Arabs.
