ISLAMABAD, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- A head-on collision
between two buses killed at least 17 persons and injured around 40 others Sunday
at the national highway in the southern Pakistani province of Sindh.
The official APP news agency reported that a
passenger coach going to Karachi, the Sindh provincial capital, collided with
another passenger coach which was coming from the opposite direction when its
driver was trying to overtake a truck.
As a result, 10 passengers were killed on the spot
while seven others died in several hospitals where they were shifted for
treatment.
The police are investigating the case.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed
grief and shock over the accident. He also asked the concerned authorities to
ensure best possible medical treatment to the injured.
