Special report: Palestine-Israel Relations
GAZA, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Islamic Hamas movement denied on Sunday that it has given pledge to some party to stop homemade rockets attacks on Israel.
Fawzi Barhoum, Hamas spokesman in Gaza, told reporters that his movement has made only one pledge "that it would response to any Zionist attack on our people," as long as Israel continues its military offensive against the Gaza Strip.
Earlier in the day, an Israeli aircraft missile killed four Palestinian militants, who affiliate to the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), when they were trying to fire homemade rockets in eastern Gaza City at southern Israel.
The recent wave of violence between Israel and Gaza militant groups led by Hamas has left 15 Palestinians dead in less than two weeks, leaving a five-month-old truce brokered by Egypt between the two sides shaky. The oral truce came into effect on June 19.
"Hamas reiterated to everyone that the one who is not committed to the truce is the Zionist enemy (Israel). The continuation of the aggression in Gaza is an evidence that the enemy is not interested in any truce," said Barhoum.
He accused Israel of destroying the truce by storming the Gaza Strip less than two weeks ago and killing six Hamas militants in southeast Gaza, adding that "it is right of the Palestinian resistance to respond to any aggression."
An Israeli newspaper has earlier quoted Egyptian security sources as saying that Egypt informed Israel that Hamas made a commitment to Cairo to ending homemade rockets attacks from Gaza at southern Israel.
