    GAZA, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Islamic Hamas movement on Saturday vowed not to allow the Israelis to live in peace unless residents of the Gaza Strip enjoy it.

    "The Israelis will not enjoy quietness while the Palestinian people live in bloodshed," said Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum.

    A violence flare-up between Israel and Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, left a ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants in the coastal territory near collapse.

    The past rocking week started on Nov. 4 when Israeli paratroopers killed six Hamas gunmen in a Gaza operation and Gaza-ruler Hamas responded with a barrage of rockets.

    Since then, over 10 Palestinian militants have been killed and Israel was stricken by tens of rockets.

    Barhoum said Hamas will not use the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire as a tool to restrain Palestinian fighters. "The lull can not be a paper in the face of resistance."

    He praised the rocket attacks against Israel, saying that the "response to the (Israeli) aggression must be firm and strong to force the occupation to stop its crimes."

    Israel completely shut down crossing points into Gaza, forcing the UN aid agency to halt food deliveries to 750,000 residents and the only power plant there to shut down due to fuel shortage.

    The unwritten ceasefire agreement expires on Dec. 19.
