BRUSSELS, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen said Thursday that the Netherlands will stick to its plans to withdraw troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2010, Dutch news service ANP reported.

Verhagen told the Dutch parliament on Thursday that the country will not send more troops to Afghanistan and will carry out its original pullout plan even if the new U.S. president Barack Obama asks for further military help, the report said.

The Netherlands sent troops to the southern Afghan province of Uruzgan in 2006 as part of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force. It now has around 1,700 soldiers stationed in the province.
