CAIRO, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Cairo-based Arab League (AL) will hold an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers on Nov. 26 to discuss the current situation of the Mideast peace, a senior official of the pan-Arab bloc said on Thursday.

Hisham Youssef, director of AL Secretary General Amr Moussa's office, told Xinhua that the foreign ministers will tackle the delayed inter-Palestinian national unity dialogue and the Mideast peace process.

Meanwhile, Moussa said Thursday the meeting comes in the implementation of a resolution adopted by Arab foreign ministers earlier this year to hold an extraordinary meeting in November to evaluate efforts in this regard.

"The timing of the meeting has nothing to do with the postponement of the Cairo-brokered Palestinian reconciliation talks," the Egyptian MENA news agency quoted Moussa as saying.

On Saturday, Egypt decided to put off the Palestinian dialogue to an undetermined date after Hamas informed Cairo that it will not show up in the meeting.

On Sunday, the international Quartet, which groups the United States, the European Union, the United Nations and Russia, gathered in Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh on the latest developments of the Mideast peace process.

Both Palestinian and Israeli officials promised to carry on the peace negotiations although a deal is not likely to be reached by the end of this year, a target set by both sides during a U.S.-hosted Mideast conference a year ago.
