TIKRIT, Iraq, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Iraqi northern city of Tikrit, capital of Salahudin province, is witnessing on Monday a wide campaign of eliminating all the security concrete barricades and reopening all the closed roads there.
"All the closed roads are reopened in the city of Tikrit due to the security improvement which recently has been witnessed in the province," Abdullah Hussein Jbara, the provincial governor deputy told Xinhua's correspondent in the city.
Jbara said "it is important that you make the citizen feels the security enhancement when you remove the obstructions caused by the previous security deterioration condition which limited his freedom."
Huge cranes and bulldozers were seen removing the concrete barricades from the blocked streets of the city, some 170 km north of Baghdad, the source said.
Some of cabs' drivers in Tikrit expressed their satisfaction of the new move, confirming that it will relieve their sufferings in moving easily in the large city.
