Vietnam to host International Conference on Urban Transports

    HANOI, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- The 13th International Conference on Urban Transports (CODATU XIII) will be held in the Vietnam's Southern Ho Chi Minh City from Nov. 12 to Nov. 14, with the theme of "Sustainable Development Challenges of Transport in Cities of the Developing World: Doing what works", the Vietnam News Agency reported on Thursday.

    The aim of the conference is to share experiences in application of the technical and scientific solution packages and develop actions of cooperation in a domain that has become a priority and a fundamental stake in development and in quality of life in cities: urban transports.

    The event will be held by Ho Chi Minh City's People's Committee in combination with the Cooperation for Urban Mobility in the Developing World (CODATU) with the support of the local authorities of the Rhone-Alpes region. About 27 countries and territories will attend the conference.

    The first conference was held in 1980 and the 12th one was at the French city of Lyon in 2006.

    Vietnam joined the CODATU in 2006 with delegations from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
