    ISLAMABAD, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday said the United States drone raids on Pakistani territory should be stopped, describing them as counter-productive, private TV channel Geo reported.

    Zardari met Commander of the United States Central Command General David Howell Petraeus and Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Richard Boucher here at the President House, said the report.

    He said, "Continuing drone attacks on our territory, which result in loss of precious lives and property, are counterproductive and difficult to explain by a democratically elected government. It is creating a credibility gap."

    Zardari said that the U.S. leadership has affirmed respect for Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. However, in the wake of drone attacks on Pakistani side of the border the government was under pressure to react more aggressively, he added.

    Pakistan's tribal areas have witnesses missile attacks launched by suspected U.S. drones and Pakistan has lodged protest and condemnation about the attacks to the U.S.

    Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Salman Bashir, U.S. Ambassador Anne W Patterson and senior civil and military officials from the two sides were also present at the meeting.

Pakistan asks U.S. to respect its sovereignty

    ISLAMABAD, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan has conveyed to the United States to respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity as frequent drone attacks could lead to anti-America sentiments as well as outrage and uproar among the people, Pakistan's defense ministry said on Monday.

    The Federal Minister for Defense of Pakistan Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar held a meeting with the visiting U.S. defense delegation led by U.S. Commander of the United States Central Command General David Howell Petraeus in the Ministry of Defense, a ministry statement said.  Full story

Suspected U.S. drones launch missile attack in Pakistan's tribal area, 5 killed

    ISLAMABAD, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Suspected United States drones launched on Friday a missile attack in Pakistan's South Waziristan tribal area, killing five persons, private DAWN NEWS TV channel reported.

    The suspected U.S. drones fired two missiles at a house at Daug village in South Waziristan and five persons were reportedly killed.

    The missile attack in South Waziristan came in quick succession to another one which left at least 20 people dead in North Waziristan on Friday.   Full story

20 killed in missile attack in Pakistan's tribal area

    ISLAMABAD, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- At least 20 people were killed in a missile attack in Pakistan's tribal area on Friday, private TV channel DAWN NEWS reported.

    Suspected U.S. drones fired two missiles at a house in Mirali district in North Waziristan tribal agency bordering Afghanistan, said the report.

    As a result, 20 people, mostly Arabs including an al-Qaida commander Abu Akash, were killed in the attack.  Full story
