BEIJING, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- "China and Algeria have scored fruitful achievements in all fields since the establishment of diplomatic ties," Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong said here Friday in her meeting with Algerian Minister of Culture Khalida Toumi.

    This year marks the 50th anniversary of Sino-Algerian diplomatic relations. The two countries are holding an Algerian cultural feast including exhibition and performances in China to mark the anniversary.

    "To continue to push forward bilateral cultural exchanges and cooperation will be conducive to the development of bilateral relations," Liu said.

    Toumi congratulated China on the success of holding the Beijing Olympic Games and briefed the Chinese side on the domestic situation of Algeria.

    She said cultural exchanges are very important to bilateral relations, and the cultural feast will enhance the friendship between the two peoples.
