Foreign ministers of DPRK, Myanmar meet on bilateral ties

    PYONGYANG, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- The foreign ministers of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Myanmar pledged to improve bilateral ties between the two countries, the official KCNA news agency reported Tuesday.

    Visiting Myanmar Foreign Minister U Nyan Win met Monday with his DPRK counterpart Pak Ui Chun at the Mansudae Assembly Hall, said the KCNA.

    The Myanmar foreign minister's visit to the DPRK marked a significant occasion in deepening mutual understanding and confidence between the two countries, Pak said at a welcoming reception.

    Pak believed that the friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and Myanmar would grow stronger.

    A strengthened bilateral relationship complies with the wishes of the two peoples as well as the common interests of the two nations, he added.

    U Nyan Win said his visit to the DPRK this time was aimed at boosting friendly bilateral ties, and hoped that the two countries could engage in more active bilateral exchanges.

    The Myanmar delegation led by U Nyan Win arrived in Pyongyang Monday.
