RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian swimmer Rebeca Gusmao insisted on Monday that she would be cleared of doping accusations.

Once she is cleared from her current ban, she will be a two-sport athlete.

While serving her ban, she played soccer for her university team and was discovered by the soccer club of Ascoop. Monday was her first practice together with the team. She will help the team in this year's women's National League in the capital city of Brasilia. The tournament will be held in the middle of December.

With a little more than one month to go before the swimmer hears whether or not her case will be upheld or if she will be absolved, Gusmao decided to remain active. Soccer was her outlet. However, she remains optimistic about her return to her favorite sport, swimming.

The Court for Arbitration of Sports (CAS) has yet to make a ruling on the swimmer's appeal for charges of doping.

"My expectations are high. I have the best lawyers in Brazil helping me on this case. We are all very confident. The truth always prevails. I have no doubt that God will help to prove my innocence," said Gusmao.

"I learned to live day by day. Until I receive a final judgment, I will continue to play soccer. However, I may be absolved and would return to swimming immediately. There are many options. The only thing I can do is wait."
