Top legislator, political advisor meet Vietnam guests

    BEIJING, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator Wu Bangguo and top political advisor Jia Qinglin respectively met here on Monday with Huynh Dam, president of the Mat Tran to Guoc Vietnam (Fatherland Front of Vietnam), vowing to push forward relations between the neighboring countries.

    Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), hailed the sound Sino-Vietnamese ties that had improved as both sides sought long-term, comprehensive and good-neighborly relations.

    He said China would like to join with Vietnam to deepen strategic trust and substantial cooperation to cope with challenges and push forward a healthy and stable relationship.

    Jia said the CPPCC and the Fatherland Front of Vietnam had shared common task in safeguarding social stability, improving the economy and people's living standard, thus they could learn from each other.

    He hoped the two sides would strengthen the exchanges between the special committees, as well as the contact on the local levels to promote the people's mutual understanding and the relations between the two states.

    Dam congratulated China on its successful hosting of the Olympic Games, Paralympics, and the just-concluded seventh Asia-Europe Meeting that demonstrated China's increasingly important role in regional and international affairs.

    He said the Fatherland Front of Vietnam would enhance cooperation with the CPPCC to contribute to a comprehensive and strategic partnership with China.

    Dam was here on a visit to China from Oct. 26 to 31 as a guest of Jia Qinglin.

    Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo also met with Dam earlier on Monday.

    Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said China valued its relations with Vietnam. The sound growth of bilateral relations produced concrete benefits for the two peoples.

    Wu hoped that the two neighbors would further increase friendly exchanges between political parties, parliaments, governments and cities, in a bid to push forward pragmatic cooperation and promote the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation.

    Dam expressed his appreciation for China's achievements in the past 30 years of reform and opening up.

    The Fatherland Front of Vietnam would increase exchanges and cooperation with all circles from China, so as to cement the traditional friendship and promote the growth of Vietnam-China relations, he noted.
