¡¡CANBERRA, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Australian Defense Minister Joel
Fitzgibbon said on Monday his government supports the principle of national
sovereignty but requires more details before taking a stance on the United
States raid on Syria.
"I've only just been made aware of the report and I
have no idea of the details," Fitzgibbon said while making a visit to the
Special Air Service Regiment in Perth in West Australia.
U.S. military helicopters attacked an area along
Syria's border with Iraq, killing eight people in what the Syrian government has
labeled "serious aggression."
"As a general matter of principle, we support the
idea that people should respect the sovereignty of other nation states and of
course we need to take a regional approach to all of the challenges in the
Middle East, and that of course requires a lot more talk between nation states
and their members," Australian Associated Press quoted the minister as
saying.
