Special report: Palestine-Israel Relations
GAZA, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian schoolgirl was injured on Monday when Israeli forces opened fire at her school and the surrounding farms in southeast Gaza Strip, witnesses and medical sources said.
Other students suffered from shock when the Israeli troops, stationed on the border in the east of Khan Younis city, fired at Palestinian farmers who were working in their fields 500 meters away from the border security fence, witnesses said.
Some of the gunshots hit the school and a fraction of a bullet hit the face of a 15-year-old student Aziza Qudaih, the witnesses said. The pupil was taken to hospital and doctors said her injury was moderate.
The shooting violated a fragile ceasefire that Egypt brokered between Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, and Israel in June 2008.
The Israeli soldiers who protect the border with the Gaza Stripoften open fire at farmers who work near the fence or people approaching the border.
Meanwhile, in West Bank, Israeli forces arrested seven Palestinians in various parts of the occupied territory, saying they were wanted, Israeli media reported.
According to the Palestinian sources, three of the detainees were seized in Nablus during an overnight raid by the Israeli army. An Islamic Jihad member was also arrested in the holy city of Bethlehem.
