Special Report: Global Financial Crisis
JAKARTA, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- At least 25 U.S.
companies have interest in expanding business and shifting investment to
Indonesia, in an effort to secure their capital from the impact of global
financial turmoil, Indonesian Industry Minister Fahmi Idrissaid Wednesday.
Talking to reporters after the meeting with business
delegation from ASEAN and the United States, the minister said that the
companies intended to put their investment in a country which was not seriously
affected by the global financial crisis.
"They are looking for a place where the economy is
not hardly hit to secure their capital," he said.
Among the companies that want to increase their
investment in Indonesia were Dow Chemical, General Electric, Mosanto Corp,
Pfizer, ConocoPhilips, Johnsons and Johnsons, Microsoft, and Oracle, said Idris.
Guardian and Martahon Oil were seeking new investment
in Indonesia, he added.
The minister said Guardian planned to invest 150
million U.S. dollars in flat-mirror production, while Morsanto would put 12
million U.S. dollars in supplying of plan seeds.
