CAIRO, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa said on Tuesday that the pan-Arab organization is keen on maintaining the stability of Lebanon.
At a joint press conference with visiting leader of Lebanon's Progressive Socialist Party Walid Jumblatt, Moussa said AL is looking forward to the fully implementation of the Doha deal reached between Lebanese rival leaders in May.
Calling for the cease of using arms in political disputes, the Arab sponsored Doha accord ended a 18-month Lebanese political crisis by assuring the election of Michel Suleiman as president and the formation of a national unity government, as well as a new election law.
For his part, Jumblatt said he discussed with the AL chief on the latest developments in Lebanon.
Jumblatt said Lebanon has made progress after the end of internal tension, noting the establishment of diplomatic ties between Lebanon and Syria was "a very positive step."
Jumblatt, who arrived in Cairo Sunday on a visit to Egypt, held talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Monday.
