BEIRUT, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Four people were wounded in overnight clashes between Sunni supporters of MP Saad Hariri's Moustaqbal movement and Shiite Amal Movement Supporters of Parliament speaker Nabih Berri, voice of Lebanon radio reported Monday.

The fighting, which broke out late Sunday in the west Beirut neighborhood of Borj Abu Haidar, developed into exchange of gunfire, urging the Lebanese army to step in and contain the fighting, the radio said.

West Beirut streets have been calm since last May, when fierce clashes occurred between Pro-government Sunni supporters and Shiite Hezbollah led-opposition.

The fighting in May lasted for a week during which Hezbollah took control of the city and over 74 people were killed.

However, the Arab sponsored Doha accord signed on May 21 between Lebanese rival leaders called for the cease of using arms in political disputes.

The accord also ended 18 months of political crises by assuring the election of President Michel Suleiman and the formation of a national unity government, as well as a new election law.
