BEIJING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's seismological network monitored an earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale jolting the sea area of the Tonga Islands at 1:10 pm on Sunday (Beijing Time).

    The strong quake was at 21.7 degrees south latitude and 173.8 degrees west longitude, with a depth of 33 km, it reported.
