RIYADH, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese President Michel Suleiman concluded his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia on Monday, after talks with Saudi king and other officials on boosting bilateral ties.

    Before leaving the Saudi Red Sea city of Jeddah, Suleiman met with Lebanese businessmen in Saudi Arabia and urged for Saudi businessmen' investment in Lebanon by affirming that his country's banking system is safe, local SPA news agency reported here.

    While prasing Saudi Arabia for its support and calling for continued investment, Suleiman promised that Lebanon has formed a committee to assess the losses incurred by Saudi investors during the political crisis over the past years.

    After his arrival in Jeddah on Sunday, the Lebanese president held talks with Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel-Aziz on boosting bilateral ties as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern.

    During the meeting, King Abdullah told Presidnet Suleiman that Lebanon must be respected and Saudi Arabia would help Lebanon in whatever it demands, said a Lebanese official.

    Saudi Arabia is a main financial backer of Lebanon, whose investments in Lebanon are estimated at nearly five billion riyals (1.3 billion dollars), according to SPA.

    Saudi investments are expected to increase, Abdul Mohsen al-Hakir, the president of the Saudi-Lebanese Business Council, was quoted as saying.
