BEIJING, Oct. 9 -- Britney Spears' lawyer shot down a
plea deal that would have placed the singer on a year's probation and forced her
to pay a 150- U.S. dollar fine in her ongoing misdemeanor driver's license
case, the Associated Press reports.

The 26-year-old Spears’ attorney suggested Spears was
receiving tougher treatment than non-celebrity defendants.
"It should be an infraction. It's kind of
mind-boggling that they want to convict her of a misdemeanor," Flanagan said.
Her case is now set to go before a jury on Oct. 15.
Flanagan plans to appeal any conviction.
In 2007, Spears was charged with misdemeanor driving
without a valid California license and hit-and-run following a fender-bender in
a store parking lot.

Court denies appeal in Spears' driving

BEIJING, Oct. 9 -- Britney Spears may have to stand
trial for driving without a valid license after all. A three-judge panel in Los
Angeles on Tuesday denied a motion by Spears' attorney seeking a delay in the
trial and a possible reduction in the charge.
Spears' attorney, J. Michael Flanagan, did not

coincide with the release of her new album.
The singer - who has previously lent her name to
