PARIS, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- "China's reform and opening-up is marvelous. It improved the living standard of the Chinese people. I believe all the Chinese will live a better life if the policy remains unchanged," said female French teacher Delphine Signe, a old China hand, in a recent interview with Xinhua.

    Ms. Delphine Signe, 34, used to live in China for six years. Inher words, she is an authentic French who can speak Chinese and has a Chinese name Dai Fengyi. Now, she works as a Chinese-language teacher in several middle schools of the Rennes city in east Brittany region, northwest France.

    Dai started to learn Chinese at the age of 13. She got her bachelor's degree of Chinese at London University. Between 1997 and 2006, Dai lived off and on in China for six years.

    Talking about China's reform and opening-up, Dai said of her biggest impression: "It does not come easy."

    It is not easy for China, a most populous country in the world, to make such tremendous achievements through reform and opening-up, she said.

    This certainly united the efforts of tens of thousands of unsung heroes, she added.

    Dai used to work as a producer assistant for France 2 television channel in China. She said the TV station first posted its reporters to China in 1995 which was a result of China's reform and opening-up policy.

    In her daily liaison and reporting, Dai came to notice that China was gradually opening up to the rest of the world, which was "an important step for the French people and people in the world to learn about China."

    When she was in China, Dai also had the experience of working for the cultural office of the French Embassy in China for a period of time.

    "Every day the number of people who came to the cultural office was increasing," Dai said. "People's aspiration to learn about the world and come closer to the world reflected exactly the continuous deepening of the reform and opening-up in China."

    Asked about the Beijing Olympic Games, Dai had a lot of words to say.

    Seven years ago when Beijing won the bid to host the 2008 Summer Olympics, Dai was in Beijing. She felt in person the joy and excitement of all Chinese at the particular moment.

    On the night of Aug. 8, 2008, Dai was in her home in Rennes watching the live broadcast of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.

    "It was the first time that I paid dedicated attention to the opening of an Olympiad. The Chinese people have a strong sense of national pride. If they want to accomplish a mission, they will not fail the world," Dai said.

    She believes the opening ceremony was the condensed embodiment of the changes that China's reform and opening-up has brought about and every Chinese should be proud of it.

    On the eve of the opening of the Olympics, Dai wrote a song for the Beijing Olympics and posted the MTV of her song "Body of Hope" on video-sharing website www.youtube.com.

    "In the east, we gather in China for the first time... He, you and me, I, you and he, let's take part in the games... Happiness will fill your hearts and miracles will fill your eyes... Wish all athletes success," the song reads.

    Dai's 84-year-old grandfather was the cameraman of her MTV.

    Dai said she believes the Chinese will live better and China will bring more wonders to the world.

    Though Dai is back home, she said she had left her heart in China.
