JERUSALEM, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Jews continued to display resilience and optimism in defiance of terrorism, the Iranian threat, Israeli political uncertainty and occasional economic downturns, a local daily reported Sunday, citing a poll.

According to the 2008 Survey of Patriotism among Israeli Jews, published by the Institute for Policy and Strategy at the HerzliyaInter-Disciplinary Center, 92 percent of those surveyed said they were proud to be Jewish, while 90 percent said they considered themselves patriotic, The Jerusalem Post reported.

Eighty-five percent said they opposed dividing Jerusalem in exchange for peace with the Palestinians, while 92 percent said they would actively engage in a military battle for Israel, the poll showed.

Despite the threats Israel faces, 87 percent of those polled said they preferred being Israelis to citizens of any other country, and 86 percent said they would prefer living in Israel, even if Iran becomes a nuclear nation.
