GAZA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)on Saturday accused Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement of not being interested in a national dialogue since it continues to arrest Hamas supporters in the West Bank.

"Fatah and Abbas throw off all the national efforts which were made to end the case of political detention," Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoom said in Gaza.

Barhoom said the Fatah-dominated security services in the West Bank "increased the crackdown against Hamas people, especially last month when "more than 147 Hamas members were arrested and tortured."

However, Hamas cracks down against Fatah supporters in Gaza and arrests dozens of them, including Fatah leaders, for their political affiliation. But Barhoom said his movement released mostof Fatah leaders and members in the Gaza Strip.

Barhoom said the crackdown "questions Fatah intention about thedialogue which is expected to start in Cairo."

Hamas and Fatah crack down against their opponents after Hamas fighters took over the Gaza Strip by force last year.

Egypt has been mediating to launch a national dialogue to end the feud between the two Palestinian factions and reunite the GazaStrip politically with the West Bank.
