Erekat: Not date set for Palestinians, Israel and Quartet

    RAMALLAH, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chief of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) negotiations department Saeb Erekat said here Friday that there has been no date set yet for a meeting between representatives from Israel, Palestine and the Quartet, reported Voice of Palestine Radio.

    Erekat said that contacts are underway with Israel to arrange a meeting between Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and outgoing Israeli premier Ehud Olmert to set a date for the meeting.

    The peace talks between Israeli and Palestinians, launched since the 2007 Annapolis conference, will be assessed by the Quartet, which comprises the U.S., Russia, the EU and the UN, according to Erekat.

    Well-placed sources informed that the meeting is expected to beheld in November, of which the Israeli side supported.
