BRUSSELS, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Four Dutch premier
league teams --Ajax, Heerenveen, Twente and Feyenoord -- all beat their
opponents on Thursday night to reach the group stage of the 2008/2009 UEFA Cup
competition.
In Amsterdam, Ajax beat visitors Borac Cacak of
Serbia 2-0, with goals coming from Jeffrey Sarpong and Luis Suarez in the
71stand 90th minutes respectively.
Ajax, which routed Borac in Cacak two weeks ago by
4-1, comfortably went through with the score of 6-1 on aggregate.
In Heerenveen, the hosts dominated the match against
Vitorial Setubal of Portugal, building a 3-0 lead in the first half. Heerenveen,
which finished with a 1-1 draw in Setubal, completed a5-2 victory in the end,
and marched onto the group stage with 6-3 on aggregate.
Twente, which were defeated away by Rennes of France
1-2 in the first leg, was able to manage a 1-0 victory. With both teams
finishing 2-2 on aggregate, the Dutch were luckily through thanks to its away
goal.
Feyenoord, losers at home to Kalmar of Sweden in the
first leg, emerged 2-1 winners over the Swedish hosts. As Feyenoord scored more
away goals, they eliminated Kalmar and earned the ticket to the group stage.
Draws for the group stage will be made in Nyon,
France, next Tuesday.
