LAGOS, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Delegates around the world are arriving in Ghanaian capital city of Accra for the 6th Summit of African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) heads of state and government, which starts on Thursday.
According to a official ACP statement, Council of Ministers and ACP Foreign Ministers spent the last two days discussing and debating issues, which will feed into the discussions of heads of state and government.
Besides ACP leaders, several prominent leaders are also expected to attend the Summit.
The global food crisis, energy crisis, the status of the Economic Partnership Agreement, the future of the ACP group as well as climate change will be the main agendas for discussion.
In wake of the global financial crisis, ACP leaders are expected to discuss the problem with its likely effect on the economy of ACP member states.
Ghana President H.E John Kufuor will inaugurate the Summit.
Outgoing chairman and President of Sudan H.E. Omer Hassan El Bashir will also speak so as ACP Secretary General Sir John Kaputin.
The theme for this years summit is "Promoting Human Security and Development".
