ISLAMABAD, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani Wednesday said Pakistan would not tolerate the violation of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Speaking to reporters at an Iftar dinner at the Prime Minister House here, Gillani said, "We will not tolerate the violation of our sovereignty and territorial integrity by any one in the name of combating terrorism."
Gillani said government had a vital responsibility to ensure cohesion on issues of national importance including national security and war against terrorism.
The Pakistani government has embarked on a multi-pronged strategy to face up to the challenges posed by terrorist elements in tribal areas and the region, said Gillani.
He clarified that the government would use force as the last resort against those who wanted to take law into their own hands.
Talking about the suicide blast at the Marriott Hotel last Saturday which left more than 50 people dead and around 270 injured, Gillani said it was a human tragedy shared by the international community instead of Pakistan alone.
He also said that people should be informed about the mentality of terrorists.
The Pakistan People's Party-led government believed in free expression and the media should also keep a larger national interest in mind, Gillani said.
