MOSUL, Iraq, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- A suicide bombing attack on Saturday killed two people and left 18 wounded in Iraq's northern town of Tal Afar, a police source said.
A suicide bomber detonated explosives on his car near a football playground at about 5 p.m. (1400 GMT), said the source from Nineveh provincial police, adding five of the injured were in serious condition.
Tal Afar, about 70 km west of the provincial capital Mosul, has been frequently targeted. A car bomb explosion on Aug. 8 killed 18 people and wounded more than 20 at a market.
Also on Saturday, Muayad al-Lami, head of the Iraqi Journalists' Union, was wounded in a bomb blast in Baghdad.
