MEXICO CITY, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Mexican President Felipe Calderon on Wednesday by a phone call congratulated Mexican disabled marathoner Mario Santillan for wining the gold medal in the marathon of the Paralympic Games of Beijing 2008.
Santillan set a world record for the category T46 of two hours, 27 minutes and four seconds and with this he closed the participation of Mexico during the Paralympics.
Mexico won 10 gold medals during the Paralympics and it is located on the 14th place of the medals table.
Santillan received Calderon's phone call at the Paralympic Village and Calderon congratulated him for his excellent performance, which he said is an example of all the Mexicans.
Mexican Paralympic Delegation to Beijing 2008, was formed by 68 athletes, 38 women and 30 men, in total they won 20 medals, 10 gold, three silvers and seven bronze, making Mexico the second best Latin American participation after Brazil.
