BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- A top official from the
Asian Paralympic governing body said on Saturday that the Beijing Paralympic
Games delivered the equal splendor to the Olympics and Paralympics.
Zainal Abu Zarin, the president of the Asian
Paralympic Committee (APC), said that all the remarks about the Beijing
Paralympics he heard from the Games are "positive", when he attended a promotion
activity of the Tokyo 2009 Asian Youth Para Games.
"I met many people who came to watch the Games, and
also some officials of the Games. None of them had negative remarks about the
Beijing Paralympic Games. All the remarks are positive," Zarin told Xinhua.
"People used to say that the Paralympics are lower
than the Olympics, but this time, Beijing delivered the equal splendor to the
two Games," he added.
"Beijing Paralympic Games are the best Paralympics so
far. I really enjoy every moment ofthe Games."
"Beijing people gave the Paralympics some new spirit.
I think the Paralympic movement is at it top now because of Beijing Games. And
the Beijing Games has received highest media coverage from the whole world."
Zarin also believed the Beijing Paralympics would
boost the development of the Paralympic sports in Asia.
"Beijing Paralympics set a model for everyone in
Asia. Beijing Games make my work easier as the president of the APC," he
said.
"The sports standard has risen up, not only because
of the athletes' good performance and new world records, but the Beijing Games
opened up people's mind toward the people with disability."
