MADRID, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque admitted on
Monday that his new job had been made much easier thanks to the squad of players
he has taken on.
Del Bosque replaced Luis Aragones in the position in July after Aragones
had led the Spanish to glory in the European Championships.
In his two games in charge to date, Del Bosque's Spain side have won 3-0
away in Denmark, while Saturday saw them kick off their campaign to qualify for
the 2010 World Cup finals with a 1-0 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina.
With Spain favorites to beat Armenia in their second qualifying game, which
will be played in Albacete on Wednesday night, his reign looks like getting off
to a flying start, but the former Real Madrid coach, believes it is down to the
work of others.
"We have received a very good inheritance," he said in an interview on
Radio Marca on Monday afternoon.
More than anything, Del Bosque admitted he was proud of the human side
shown by his squad as much, if not more than their playing ability.
"They are all just normal people despite all of the success they have had
and that is the best thing you can say."
"The squad has known how to win matches and also how to transmit something
to football fans and those who are not," he added.
Del Bosque's first game saw him virtually repeat the lineup Aragones used
in the European Championships, but against Bosnia- Herzegovina, he made some
changes to the line up.
With Fernando Torres out through injury and David Silva absent with an
ankle problem, Sevilla's David Capel playing as an out and out winger.
"We have to show certain continuity, but it is also wrong for us to be
totally immobile," explained the Spain coach.
Meanwhile midfielder Cesc Fabrigas criticized the pitch in Murcia, where
Spaniards played their match on Saturday night. "The pitch was painted green, I
hope it is better in Albacete," said Cecs.
