BERLIN, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie Monday met with his counterpart Franz Josef Jung.
Liang, also a state councilor, said, "In recent years Sino-German relations have developed smoothly. In the framework of the Sino-EU comprehensive strategic partnership, China and Germany have established a partnership which has global responsibility."
He said, "China and Germany are countries which have important influences in the world. The two countries have great cooperative potentials in maintaining world peace and promoting mutual developments."
Liang added, "Both countries should see Sino-German relations from a strategic and global view, rule out interruptions, consider each other's concerns, and further strengthen effective cooperation in every aspect to raise Sino-German relations to a new level."
Liang said, "China appreciates the German government's persistence in the one China policy. China feels satisfied with the current development of the Sino-German armies and hopes the good tendency of top level exchanges between the two armies can be kept."
He said the two armies can expand and strengthen effective exchanges and cooperation in every aspect and push forward friendly cooperative relations on the bases of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.
Jung said current international and regional security situations are very complex and to further strengthen relations between the two countries and two armies will benefit the world and regional peace and stability. Germany hopes to raise the level of exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
The two ministers exchanged views on international and regional security situations and issues of mutual concern.
The Chinese defense minister started last Wednesday his official visit to four European countries, including Italy, Germany, Belarus and Hungary.
