MANAGUA, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Nicaraguan official radio station "La Nueva Radio Ya" said on Monday that China has the opportunity to concrete its roll of global actor with an international audience for the Beijing Paralympic Games.

La Nueva Radio Ya said the people at the Bird's Nest stadium during the opening ceremony of the Paralympics acclaimed the show, while the Chinese and foreign leaders watched the sports activity.

"Chinese people and the government have always given a great importance to the causes of the disabled people," Chinese president Hu Jintao said as quoted by La Nueva Radio Ya.

According to the radio station, to be host of the Olympic and Paralympic Games is a national proud for China and a way to place the country at the international scenery.

"China is willing to use the Paralympic Games to underline what it says it has done with 83 million disabled people in the country," La Nueva Radio Ya said.

Among the international leader who attended the ceremony were Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, German President Horst Koehler and South Korean Prime Minister Han Seung-soo.

Beijing used part of the 100 million U.S dollars budget to improve the facilities for disabled people in places like airports, public transportations, hotels, hospitals and tourist places like the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.

Some 4,000 disabled athletes from 147 countries and regions are participating in the Beijing Paralympic Games running to September 17.
