LOS ANGELES, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Software giant Microsoft announced on Friday it will deploy 155 representative at stores across the nation by year's end to help boost PC sales.

The move was part of Microsoft's new 300-million-dollar marketing campaign and image makeover, Microsoft's general manager of corporate communications, Tom Pilla, said.

These "Microsoft Gurus" would help customers with their PC purchases by answering questions about PCs and Microsoft products, according to Pilla.

These Gurus would not be paid on commission, and instead would be measured by customer satisfaction and their "ability to translate the technology to a language consumers feel comfortable with," Pilla said.

Microsoft had tested about 25 of the service employees in the U.S. and Europe since October 2007.

Pilla said the campaign is meant to show consumers the interconnectedness of Microsoft's Windows products and how they can be used with various devices.
