KATHMANDU, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The ongoing meeting of the Communist Party
of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN-UML) central committee Friday decided
to maintain friendly relations with the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)
(CPN-M).
The decision is expressed in CPN-UML general secretary Jhala Nath Khanal's
political report passed by the party's central committee meeting on Friday. The
CPN-M, the single largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA) and the
CPN-UML, the third largest CA party, make up the lion's share of the ruling
party alliance.
The general secretary's report stresses that the party, as an important
ally in the coalition government, should maintain friendly relations with the
CPN-M in order to complete the constitution-making process smoothly, local
leading news website Nepalnews.com quoted CPN-UML leaders as saying.
The political report also underscores the need to unite the party
internally so as to revitalize the organization in the aftermath of the setback
the party suffered in the Constituent Assembly election.
The meeting, which started on Tuesday at the party's central office in
Nepali capital Kathmandu, will run for few more days, taking decisions on
organizational matters and the upcoming 8th general convention, central member
Yuba Raj Karki said.
