BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Paralympic
tickets were put on sales at ticket booths of most venues on Friday, with
enthusiastic fans waiting in queues to snap up the tickets.
More than 100 people lined up at a ticket booth
nearby the Olympic Green Tennis Center at noon. A poster on the ticket boost
said the tickets for matches in the National Aquatics Center, also called the
Water Cube, have been sold out.
Wang Ruizhi, 71, and Wang Lizhi, 60, two sisters
coming from South China's Yunnan Province, said they wanted to watch the
Paralympics and visit the National Stadium, also called Bird's Nest, for they
believe it is a "world-class architecture."
They also said the paralympians have shown great
perseverance to compete in the event.
James Garrett, a tourist from the United States, said
he came to Beijing on Thursday to watch the Paralympics and see China. He
said he wanted to watch the swimming and field and track competitions.
"I've seen them (the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube) on
TV. They are beautiful," he said.
He also believed the competitions are good, because
it takes tremendous effort for paralympians to participate in the competition.
Patrick Gerard of Belgium, who arrived in Beijing on
Friday morning, said he is eager to watch the Paralympic Games because his son,
Joachim, will participate in the wheelchair-tennis competition.
He said he will watch all the matches of his boy, and
then watch the swimming and basketball competitions, until he leaves Beijing
after the closing ceremony.
Paralympics tickets began on-site sales
on Aug.15 at Bank of China's outlets in Beijing and Qingdao. A total of
850,000 tickets were prepared for domestic sales, according to the official
website of the organizing
committee.
