BEIJING, Sept. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Dell Inc (DELL.O) is set to announce a new
mini notebook on Thursday dubbed the Inspiron Mini 9, a source familiar with the
company's plan said as reported by media reports.
The unveiling of the new Dell model is part of an
announcement with partner Box.net, which will provide online services like photo
and document storage that will "come preinstalled on the Dell Mini."
Exact specifications of the Dell netbook are mostly
unknown. According to a Wall Street Journal report, the Inspiron Mini 9 has a
screen size under nine inches, and runs either Microsoft (MSFT.O) Windows or
Linux operating system software.
The Dell "mini" would be a low-priced computer, to be sold
for under 400 U.S. dollars and will be put it into competition with the Eee PC
from Asustek Computer (2357.TW) and other rivals in Taiwan and Japan.
Dell had originally scheduled its notebook for a June
or July launch, but chose to delay to finalize manufacturing processes.
