ALMATY, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov on Tuesday reiterated the country's commitment to diversifying energy export.
Berdymukhamedov made the remarks at a meeting with visiting Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Mehmet Hilmi Guler in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat, local media reported.
The president said Turkmenistan is affluent in energy resources and strives to take this advantage to benefit the country's people and the humankind as a whole.
He reiterated that Turkmenistan will adhere to the commitment of diversifying energy export and seek comprehensive cooperation of mutual benefits in an open posture.
The international pipeline facilities should be safeguarded to ensure efficient cooperation in the energy sector, Berdymukhamedovnoted.
Echoing Berdymukhamedov's remarks, Guler expressed the country's hope to import energy from Turkmenistan and enter into partnership with Turkmenistan in the fuel energy sector.
Located in Central Asia, Turkmenistan ranks among the world's major natural gas exporting countries. Experts estimated the country's gas reserves at 24.6 trillion cubic meters.
