KATHMANDU, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Six persons have died of dysentery in a western Nepal district in less than a week, local newspaper The Himalayan Times reported on Saturday.
At Deuralikot Village Development Committee (VDC) of Bajhang district, some 450 km west of Nepali capital Kathmandu, the disease has spread since last week.
One of the patients had been identified as Govinda Prasad Joshi,46, officer at the directorate Ram Chandra Ojha said, adding that other deceased were yet to be identified.
"The other deceased couldn't be identified because it takes two days to reach the village from district headquarters Chainpur and the telephone service there has also been disrupted," he said.
More than 12 persons are getting treatment in District Public Health Office, Chainpur and Seti Zonal Hospital, Dhangadhi, some 470 km west of Kathmandu.
A medical team has been sent to the village to control the disease, according to local authority.
