KATHMANDU, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Nepali Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav left here on Thursday for India in order to take part in the 10th ministerial meeting of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), local newspaper The Rising Nepal reported on Friday.
The BIMSTEC meeting in Delhi, the capital of India, brings together foreign ministers from the South and South-East Asia.
The BIMSTEC is an international organization involving a group of countries in South Asia and South East Asia. The member nations of this group are Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan and Nepal.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hira Bahadur Thapa said that Yadav is scheduled to discuss the problem of floods caused by the washing away of the Koshi river embankment with his India counterpart, at the sidelines of the meeting.
Meanwhile, local newspaper The Himalayan Times said on Friday Nepali Prime Minister Prachanda will visit India next month and it will be his first "political visit" abroad after ascending to the post last week.
