HANOI, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam closely follows situations in South
Ossetia and Abkhazia, and supports settlement of international disputes via
peaceful solutions, a spokesman for Vietnam's foreign ministry said Thursday.
"Our persistent policy is to promote settlement of international disputes
through peaceful solutions in line with international laws and the United
Nations' Charter," Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Dung said at a regular press
briefing.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Tuesday signed decrees that recognized
the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, while Georgia opposed it.
