    LUANDA, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Angola's scheduled Sept. 5 parliamentary elections will officially start at 7 a.m. local time and close at 6 p.m. local time on the legislative election date, Angola's official news agency ANGOP reported on Tuesday.

    Adao de Almeida, spokesman for the Angolan National Electoral Commission (CNE), was quoted as saying that the poll stations will start working at 5 a.m. to sort out the electoral materials and other relevant work.

    According to the spokesman, all voters should cast their votes not later than 6 p.m. on the election date.

    "The stations will remain open until all who arrive in time to cast their ballot," he added.

    No political propaganda activities will be allowed near the poll stations on the election date, he said, adding that any propaganda materials shall remain at least as far as 500 meters from the poll station.

    The parliamentary elections, the first ones after the 27-year civil war ended in the country in 2002, will take place on Sept. 5,with more than 8 million voters taking part in.

    Ten parties and four coalitions in the southwestern African country will compete in the elections with 5,198 candidates to fight for 220 parliamentary seats.
