    ISLAMABAD, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday congratulated China on the successful holding of Beijing Olympics, saying the Olympics is another crowning accomplishment and a glorious moment for China.

    "The people of Pakistan join me in extending their warmest congratulations to the Chinese leadership and people on the successful holding of the 29th Olympiad in Beijing, which will long be remembered as the most splendid sporting event in history," said Gilani in a message sent to his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao.

    "The Beijing Olympics showcased the manifold achievements of the great Chinese nation and established the excellence of the Chinese Athletes, who topped the Gold Medals' list," he said.

    The Pakistan prime minister said the Beijing Olympics is another crowning accomplishment and a glorious moment for China. "We, in Pakistan, rejoice over your all round accomplishments."

    Gilani attended the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics onAug. 8.
