TEHRAN, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Iranian media on Monday hailed Beijing Olympics as a great success.

Iran's official IRNA news agency said that Beijing Olympics is one of the most memorable summer Olympic Games in which a lot of marvels took place and many dreams came true.

The Chinese people were lucky enough to witness the fulfillment of a hundred-year dream of their country. The success of Beijing Olympics showed China's achievements after 3 decades of economic development.

It is impossible for China to achieve this success and to host this unique global event without its material and spiritual advancement after 30 years.

China has taken all its efforts to fulfill its obligations to the international community. It is not only Beijing, but also the whole China that have done everything to guarantee the success of Olympic games.

Beijing Olympics raised an opportunity for China, which has led to the self-confidence and integrity of Chinese people.

The whole world was deeply impressed by Chinese people's enthusiastic and warm reception of the athletes from every part of the world regardless of their race and nationality.

Foreign guests from all over the world have witnessed the hospitability, patience and kindness of the Chinese people.

Iran's English-language satellite channel Press TV described the closing ceremony of Beijing Olympics as "a carnival", saying that it was one of the most successful games in history.

Now, as the four-year countdown to 2012 Olympic Games begins, the question is whether London can live up to standards set by Beijing 2008, Press TV said.
