MOSCOW, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Russia is interested in boosting trade and
economic ties with Jordan, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Sunday.
Meeting with Jordanian King Abdullah II in the Black Sea resort of Sochi,
Medvedev said it was their third meeting in six months, and the fact was
evidence of intensive Russian-Jordanian contacts and good bilateral relations.
"Economic ties are developing and trade turnover is increasing, although we
would like it to grow even more intensively," Medvedev was quoted by the RIA
Novosti news agency as saying.
"The discussion of a range of issues of international importance" was also
developing, the Russian leader added.
The Jordanian king said that relations between Russia and Jordan were of
strategic importance to the entire Middle East.
"Our political dialogue is at a high level, and political contacts are
developing," the Jordanian monarch said, expressing confidence that there are
good prospects for further cooperation in the "coming months and years."
